On Mary Temple’s installations, light and shadow seem to be projected on the walls from nearby windows. But, in fact, there are no windows: the images are put inside rooms where there’s usually little or no natural light.
Provided with latex paint and a keen sense of space, the American artist thoroughly creates that illusion. This way she counts on the viewer to complete the architectural intervention by conceptualizing a window, borrowing from their own past experiences with light and space.
